Marsh has appointed Deborah Wardle as Mercer's international chief investment officer (CIO), effective immediately.

Wardle succeeds Garvan McCarthy, who will continue in his role as global alternatives CIO. She has built her career at Mercer over the past 16 years and brings experience from across asset classes and portfolio management, in both traditional and alternative investments. In her most recent role as head of portfolio management for Europe, India and the Middle East, she worked with multidisciplinary teams to translate client objectives into tailored investment solutions. Before that, Wardle was UK alternatives leader. In her new role, she will report to Mercer global CIO, Niall O’Sullivan, and will continue to be based in London.

IFM Investors has appointed Derrick Hastie as chief technology officer.  

Hastie brings more than 35 years of technology and financial services experience across asset management, insurance and retail banking. He joins IFM from L&G Asset Management, where he served as chief technology officer. In his career, he has held senior technology and operational roles at Aegon Asset Management, Aberdeen Asset Management, Scottish Widows Investment Partnership, Bright Grey and ANZ in Australia, having begun his career as a software developer. In his new position, Hastie will lead IFM’s global technology function and strategy, with responsibility for building the scalable technology capabilities and platforms needed to support the firm’s next phase of growth.

Aptia has appointed Jyotsna Kaushik as head of modelling and monitoring within its Investment Consulting practice.

Kaushik joins Aptia from Standard Life, where she held senior roles across quant engineering and asset-liability modelling (ALM). Before Standard Life, she spent over four years at PwC and has also held senior actuarial and modelling roles at Partnership Assurance (now Just Group), JLT and Paternoster (now Rothesay). She also currently serves as a council member of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries and is a member of its Finance and Investment Board. She is also a founding member of the Indian Actuarial Network UK, where she significantly expanded the organisation's reach and engagement across the profession.

Hymans Robertson has promoted Linda Jardine to head of project management.

Jardine has been at Hymans Robertson for 12 years, having joined in 2014 from Mercer. In her time at Hymans Robertson, she has been involved in many projects, including full-service transitions, end-game delivery, consolidation projects and large and complex scheme mergers. As head of project management, Jardine will oversee the team in assisting clients in implementing their strategies and guiding complex change programmes, with a clear focus on achieving positive outcomes for members.
